Pinterest Data & API Use

This page describes how AnimateMagic uses the Pinterest API. It supplements our Privacy & Cookies policy, which covers this website and its visitors.

AnimateMagic publishes its own animation, VFX and photography work to its own Pinterest business account using Postiz, an open-source scheduling tool that we run ourselves on our own computer. The integration is used only by AnimateMagic. It is not offered to the public, it has no sign-up, and it never connects to a Pinterest account belonging to anyone other than AnimateMagic.

Data We Access

Through the Pinterest API, and only for the AnimateMagic account that authorised the integration, we access:

  • Account information (user_accounts:read) — the profile of the connected account, used to confirm the integration is bound to the correct AnimateMagic account and to read our own account-level performance figures.
  • Boards (boards:read, boards:write) — a list of our own boards, so each post is filed under the board matching the project. Write access is part of the connector's fixed scope set and covers creating or updating a board of ours when a new body of work needs one.
  • Pins (pins:read, pins:write) — creating pins from our own images and video, and reading back our own pins and their performance figures.

The images, videos, titles, descriptions and links published through the integration are our own original work. We do not access, collect, scrape or store data about Pinterest users, their pins, their boards, their followers, or their activity on Pinterest. Where Pinterest grants additional read-only scopes at the application level, such as advertising or catalog access, the integration does not call those endpoints and we hold no advertising or catalog data.

Where Tokens Are Stored

The Pinterest OAuth access token and refresh token stay on the personal computer that runs our Postiz instance, in that instance's local database. Because Postiz is self-hosted, no managed or third-party Postiz service ever receives them. They are never embedded in this website, never sent to a visitor's browser, never committed to source control, and never written to logs or analytics. Tokens travel only over HTTPS, directly between that machine and Pinterest.

No Sale, No Sharing

We do not sell, rent, licence, trade or otherwise share Pinterest data or Pinterest access tokens with any third party. Pinterest data is not used for advertising, profiling, model training or resale of any kind, and it is not combined with data from other sources.

Retention & Deletion

Tokens are kept only while the integration is in active use, and a refreshed token replaces the previous one. Revoking the app's access from the Pinterest account settings ends our access immediately; disconnecting the channel in our Postiz instance deletes the stored tokens.

To request deletion of any data held by this integration, email aleksanderm.moskwa8@gmail.com with the subject “Pinterest data deletion request”. We delete the stored tokens and any associated records within 30 days and confirm by reply. You can also reach us through the contact page.
